‘Fed up with his life’, young Bihar District Magistrate jumps before a running train


PATNA: A young IAS officer Mukesh Kumar Pandey who barely a week back was posted as the District Magistrate in Bihar allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train on late Thursday evening.

His amputated body was recovered from a railway track in Ghaziabad. The police also recovered a suicide note from his pocket, which said he was committing suicide on his own and that his death should be informed to his family members.

Although it’s still not clear what promoted his suicide, media reports say family tension could be the reason behind the incident.

The victim, however, has said he was fed with his own life and has lost his “belief on human’s existence”.

The victim was posted as the District Magistrate in Buxur. He was a promising official who secured 14th position in the 2012 Union Public Service Commission.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today expressed grief over his death.

“Mukesh Kumar Pandey’s death is a very heart-rending incident. He was an efficient administrator and a sensitive officer…May his soul rest in peace,” the chief minister said in his condolence message today.
