‘Enough evidence to arrest absconding Lalkeshwar in Bihar merit scandal,’ says Patna SSP

PATNA: Police today said they had enough evidence to arrest the former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad.

Prasad who has come under fire for his role in the Bihar merit scam is currently absconding although the police are conducted raids to nab him. He resigned yesterday.

“We will definitely arrest him since his complicity in the merit scam has been established,” Patna’s superintendent of police Manu Maharj told a Press Conference today.

He said the fake topper would be declared as “absconders” as they have failed to turn up before police despite notices issued to them.

The absconding BSEB chairman Prasad, husband of a former JD-U lawmaker, put in his papers yesterday after it became clear that he may be sacked id he did not resign on his own.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the Bihar Board class 12 merit scam in the have arrested five persons in connection with the scam so far.

The police are now conducting raids to nab the absconding principal of VR College Amit Kumar alias Bachcha Rai who has gone into hiding as well as toppers..

Reports said the police did not find most of the class 12 toppers when they reached their homes on Wednesday with the notices asking them to appear before the police for interrogation.

In their absence, the police handed over the notices to either their family members or pasted on the walls of their house.
