PATNA: The already visible cracks in the BJP-led NDA widened further on Saturday when the RLSP alleged it was being forced to quit the ruling alliance.
The RLSP which is headed by Union minister Upendra Kushwaha had joined the NDA ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha while the key political parties appeared unwilling to joining the coalition with Narendra Modi at the helm at that time.
“We are being constantly insulted, being forced to move out of the NDA,”RLSP acting president Nagmani told the media on Saturday.
He wondered how the BJP was offering many seats to the JD-U which won only two seats out of 40 it had contested while the RLSP with a strong 10-percent support base and which won three seats out of three in the last polls was being offered only two.
“We are wondering over the treatment. A party with barely 1 ½ percent support base is being given many seats while the RLSP with 10 percent vote bank is being offered two seats,” Nagmani said.
He said the BJP was trying to kill the NDA in its love for Nitish Kumar.
The RLSP has been alleging “maltreatment” at the hands of the BJP right since the JD-U led by Kumar became a part of the NDA in July last year.
The RLSP was even denied Cabinet berth in the Nitish Kumar government though the LJP of Ram Vilas Paswan was given representation.
Very recently, all the NDA allies boycotted the human chain programme of the RLSP organied to highlight the issue of educational reforms in Bihar.
The JD-U too stayed away from the pogramme although Kushwaha’s party had joined the JD-U’s human chain programme against dowry and child marriages.
Interestingly, the opposition RJD participated in the human chain programme.
