“Eight SIMI activists escaped around 2-3 AM by killing a jail security guard,” DIG Bhopal Raman Singh was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.
The police officials said the terrorists slit open the throat of the prison guard with steel plate and glass after overpowering him.
The escaping terrorists were facing serious charges like treason and murder.
Earlier in the past as well, they had fled from jail after which they all were shifted to the Bhopal Central Jail.
The incident has raised big question mark over the prevailing security arrangements in the jail.
Meanwhile, authorities have issued alert in the areas and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
