Washington: Scripting a new chapter in the pages of US politics, Donald Trump on Friday took oath as the new President of the country and promised to work along with the citizens to determine the course of the country and the world for the coming years.
“Together we will determine the course of our country and the world for many many years,” Trump said in his first presidential address after taking oath.
“We are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it to you (people),” he said.
Former President Barack Obama was present at the event.
Earlier, Obama had greeted Trump as they arrived at the White House, media reports said.
Trump took oath as the 45th president of the United States.
The White House tweeted: “It’s official. Our 45th president has taken the oath of office & we couldn’t be more excited! Congratulations to @POTUS Trump #Inauguration.”
Trump won the Presidential election last year.
