Disqualified Sharad vows to continue his fight to save democracy


PATNA: Rebel JD-U leader Sharad Yadav who was disqualified from Rajya Sabha today declared to continue fighting against the “undemocratic style” of functioning to save democracy.

“I am disqualified from Rajya Sabha as Mahagathbandan which was formed to defeat NDA in Bihar & after 18 months to break it & joining NDA to remain in power & if to speak against this undemocratic style is my fault I will continue to fight to save democracy,” Sharad tweeted on Tuesday.

On Monday, Yadav and his party colleague Ali Anwar lost their House membership for defying the party leadership.

Late on Monday evening, an official communication from the chairman of Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu announced both cease to be Rajya Sabha members with immediate effect.

The JD-U leadership approached the RS chairman to cancel their House membership after they rebelled against the party when the chief minister returned to the BJP in July this year.

They further angered the party leadership when they openly defied the party’s order about not to attend the RJD rally in Patna.

Later, they approached the Election Commission to stake claim over party’s symbol claiming to be the real JD-U but his request was rejected.
