PATNA: Rape cases have just gone out of control in Bihar, it seems. In a latest incident, a schoolgirl was battling for life at a government hospital after allegedly being gang-raped by three youths in a running car.
The shocking incident took place in Saran district of Bihar in the weekend.
As per the report, the victim, a class 12 student, was returning home on her cycle from school when she was dragged inside a running car and allegedly raped by three youths before being thrown out at an isolated place under Bheldi police station on Friday night.
As luck would have it, local villagers saw the girl lying unconscious along the road and informed her father who rushed to the spot and admitted her to the local hospital.
Acting on her complaint, the police have arrested one accused while raids were on to nab other absconding accused persons.
“We have arrested one person but other accused persons too will be caught very soon,” the local senior police official Hari Kishore Rai told the media on Sunday.
Another such incident was reported from Jehanabad district where a woman and her daughter-in-law were allegedly gang-raped by seven persons during a dacoity incident on Saturday night.
The rising rape cases have become a matter of concern in Bihar, and according to an official report, more than 6,000 rape cases have been reported in the past five years.
