Journalist murder case: Wanted shooter Kaif reaches court in ‘burqa’, sent to jail

PATNA: A key accused in journalist Rajdeo Ranjan murder case surrendered in a local court in Bihar today under heavy police pressures.

Mohammad Kaif surrendered in the local court in Siwan today a week after the police attached his property, media reports said.

Kaif who claims himself to be cricket coach is accused by police of being a “conspirator” in Ranjan murder case.

He was last seen outside the Bhagalpur jail gate receiving RJD politician Mohamad Shahabuddin after he was released from jail on September 10. He was also seen with Shahabuddin at latter native village at Paratappur when he reached there after his release, as per reports.

Kaif went into hiding after the police launched raids to arrest him when his photographs with Shahabuddin made headlines in all newspapers.

The issue took a political turn when another photograph showing Kaif with health minister Tej Pratap Yadav went viral in the media.

Last week, the police attached the accused property after he failed to surrender. The police have also registered a case against his family who protested on the streets and block traffic, protesting the attachment of properties.

Ranjan was shot dead by motorcycle-brone criminals in May this year while he was on way home after day’s work in the evening. Police allege Kaif was a conspirator in the murder case.
