“People have voted in large numbers in favour of the Congress party in Gujarat (in first phase of polls). It will form the government there,” Prasad was quoted as telling the media on Sunday.

The second phase of poling for remaining 93 seats will be held on December 14. The counting of votes will take place on December 18.

Prasad’s younger son and Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, on the other hand, mounted heavy attacks on chief minister Nitish Kumar alleging the latter had fielded the JD-U candidates in Gujarat polls just to cut into the Patel votes and help the BJP in distress.
