CCA on Anant Singh to remain in force, Patna High Court refuses to give reprieve


PATNA: The Patna High Court today rejected the petition filed by gangster-politician Anant Singh seeking to remove the Crime Control Act (CCA) imposed on him by the state government.

The court rejected his petition citing his criminal antecedents. He is currently lodged in jail in connection with dozens of criminal cases, such as murder, kidnapping and extortion, pending against him.

Singh had moved the court after the state government had imposed CCA on him in September last year.

He is currently an Independent legislator from Mokama seat in Patna.
