PATNA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today questioned the jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin in the Bihar journalist Rajdeo Ranjan murder killing case.
As per reports, a team of the CBI reached the Tihar jail and took the jailed don to the CBI headquarters in New Delhi for questioning which is in progress now.
“Shahabuddin’s questioning was going on at the CBI headquarters,” CBI spokesperson RK Gaur was quoted as telling news agency IANS on Monday.
The questioning began soon after a special CBI court in Bihar had on Friday granted eight-day custody of the jailed politicians to the investigating agency for interrogation.
The CBI sought for his custody after getting some credible evidence of his alleged involvement in the murder case, media reports have said.
Shahabuddin has already been made the 10th accused in the Ranjan murder case by the CBI.
He was formally made the accused in the case after hearing in the case by a special CBI court in Muzaffarpur on Friday.
Shahabuddin was produced in the court through video-conferencing. He is currently lodged in the high-security Delhi’s Tihar jail.
Reports said charge-sheet against Shahabuddin will be filed soon in the case.
A special CBI court had on Monday issued a production warrant against Shahabuddin and asked the CBI officials to produce him through video-conferencing.

Ranjan, a senior journalist working with leading Hindi daily Hindustan in Siwan, was shot dead by motorcycle-borne shooters in May last year while he was returning home from office in the evening.
Right since his murder, the victim family members had suspected the involvement of the RJD leader in the case and demanded his shifting to Tihar from Siwan for a fair trial.
In February, he was shifted to Tihar following a directive by the Supreme Court.
So far, Shahabuddin has been convicted in at least 10 cases and sentenced to life imprisonment in two cases but the RJD is yet to expel him from the party. RJD claims he has become victim of conspiracy.
