Media reports said the chief minister kept the Patna DM out of probe committee after Prasad questioned his inclusion in the inquiry committee citing the place of occurrence and responsibility of the local administration to make necessary arrangements for the kite flying festival.
“How can we give the probe task to the man upon whom rested the prime responsibility to make arrangements for the festival?” Prasad was quoted by the local media as telling the chief minister.
Earlier, the state government had formed a team of three officials to probe the boat tragedy. They included Pratyay Amrit, disaster management secretary, Shalin, deputy inspector general of police and Patna DM Agarwal.
At least 25 people were killed when an overcrowded boat sank in river Ganga near NIT ghat in Patna on Saturday evening. Most of the victims were from poor background.
