PATNA: In one of the most unpredictable acts, BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the Rajya Sabha today amid reports that he could join the Aam Aadmi Party of Arvind Kejriwal.
Speculations are that he could be projected as the Chief Ministerial face of the AAP in upcoming Punjab assembly elections.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh was very quick to welcome Sidhu’s resignation, describing it as a “bold step”.
नवजोत सिंह सिधू जी ने बीजेपी की राज्य सभा सदस्यता से इस्तीफा देकर साहसिक कदम उठाया है,उनके फैसले का स्वागत करता हूँ।

“The people of Punjab are looking for a change,” Sidhu told the NDTV today just before he resigned from the Rajya Sabha.
Sidhu was not having good relations with the BJP right since Finance Minister Arun Jaitely was nominated from Amritsar seat for the 2014 LS polls which was earlier his seat, as per media reports.
Strangely, barely weeks back, BJP had nominated him to the Upper House of the Parliament.
“At behest of PM, I had accepted RS nomination for welfare of Punjab. With closure of every window leading to Punjab the purpose stands defeated, now a mere burden. I prefer not to carry it. In the war of right or wrong, you can’t afford to be neutral rather than being self-centered. Punjab’s interest is paramount,” Sidhu told The Indian Express today.
His wife Navjot Kaur who is a BJP lawmaker from Punjab has also reportedly resigned.
