PATNA: The BJP has sought cancellation of bail of RJD chief Lalu Prasad after a TV News channel exposed the purported telephonic conversation between the RJD chief and the jailed don Mohammad Shahabuddin.
Shahabuddin is currently lodged in high-security Delhi’s Tihar jail while the conversation believed to have taken place in April last year when the don was lodged in Siwan jail.
“Nitish Kumar should move the Supreme Court against Lalu Prasad and pray for cancellation of his bail the way he had moved the apex court in the case of Shahabuddin, Rocky Yadav and Raj Ballabh Yadav,” senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told the media last evening.
Modi also demanded a registration of case against the RJD president for his alleged connivance with the criminals.
The RJD chief who has been sentenced to five-year imprisonment in fodder scam is currently out on bail.
A delegation of BJP also met Bihar governor Ram Nath Kovind last evening, seeking his intervention in the matter.
However, the RJD had accused the BJP and a section of media of maligning image of opposition leaders.
“BJP & sponsored media doing propaganda setting to malign image of all prominent opposition leaders e.g Mayawati,Kejriwal,RG, Mamata,Lalu etc,” read a pinned tweet at Prasad’s official Twitter handle.
