New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hailed the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reportedly seized properties of underworld don and 1993 Mumbai serial blast mastermind Dawood Ibrahim, media reports said.
The gulf nation has sealed properties worth Rs 15,000 crore (Rs 150 billion) held by Dawood who runs the organised crime syndicate named D-Company.
The move was made following the UAE government’s inquiry on the mafia’s assets.
Terming it as a ‘masterstroke’, the BJP tweeted, “Major diplomatic success of PM Modi: One of India’s most wanted criminals, Dawood Ibrahim’s properties worth Rs. 15,000 crore seized in UAE.”
Reports said National security adviser Ajit Doval had pursued India’s case against Dawood with the UAE government leading to the action.
