PATNA: Police in Bihar have arrested a group of youths after one of them posted a photograph of himself with half-empty liquor bottle on the Facebook.
The arrest was made from Nalanda district on Sunday evening shortly after one of the youths identifying himself as Vicky Kumar shared an image of a party with half-empty liquor bottle with the message “Party all night”.
The local media reported the Nalanda district superintendent of police Kumar Ashish came across this post on Facebook after which he ordered the police to search for the accused.
Soon the accused was arrested along with his four other accomplices from Laheri police station areas in the district.
This is the probably the first arrest of persons on the charge of posting photograph of a liquor bottle.
The Bihar Government had declared total prohibition in the state in April, 2016 and started dealing with heavy hands those flouting the order.
However, in September, the Patna High Court struck down the prohibition order, calling it “illegal.”
Soon after, the state Government notified and enforced a new liquor law, replacing the existing one and stipulating more stringent provisions.
