PATNA: A woman in Bihar has fallen sick and is bed-ridden after a parrot whom she loved too much has gone missing from her home. A distraught family has also announced to give reward of Rs 25,000 to anyone who helped trace the missing parrot.

60-year-old Babita Devi, wife of Ramanuj Sing from Nawada district, fell sick suddenly after the parrot went missing from her home on January 3 this year. Her condition has not improved despite treatments from local doctors.

The unchained parrot was staying with her for the past eight years. The pet would go out from home early in the missing after waking the family members up and return in the evening without fail. This was the pet’s daily routine.

“But, it did not return after it left our home in the morning of January 3. We searched for the pet everywhere— in the neighbourhood and among the tree but have failed to trace till date. It has filled a vacuum in my life. My appetite is gone with the parrot,” rues the woman.

Reports said the shocked lady backed by family members even distributed pamphlets, called up friends and relatives, and even launched a campaign on WhatsApp but they all failed to help anything.

As a last resort, the woman has now announced to give a reward of Rs 25,000 to anyone who brings the missing parrot.

“The parrot was like my son. It was lovely. I myself would feed it fruits and vegetables as it didn’t eat grains. There was no cage for the pet also and it typically a free bird,” she reminisces.
