Bihar wins Kalam Award for Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act


PATNA: Bhar has won the Kalam Innovation in Governance Award (KIGA) for exemplary implementation and monitoring of the Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act.

KIGA has been constituted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre, an independent think tank, based in New Delhi to recognize different sectors of governance and public service delivery.

The Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act (BRPGRA) 2015 is the first law in India to give a legal right to citizens for time-bound hearing and redressal of their grievances.

In the 20 months since its implementation, lakhs of citizens have been benefitted.

As per an official report, more than 2.67 lakh complaints have been registered and out of these more than 2.41 have been effectively disposed, with the rest under due process.
