PATNA: The Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University at Muzaffapur in Bihar has decided to confer Doctorate of Literature (D.Litt) degree on chief minister Nitish Kumar for his excellent job.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of university syndicate held on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by vice-chancellor Pandit Palande.
The issue came up for discussion after a member Narendra Patel sought for conferring a degree on the chief minister citing syndicate’s old decision.
“A decision was taken during a syndicate meet in 2011 to award honorary D. Litt degree to Nitish Kumar for his innovative idea of ‘Nyay ke saath vikas (development with justice)’. But nothing has been done in this respect in the past five years,” Patel told the meet.
Earlier in 2003, the Patna University had selected Lalu Prasad for award of honorary de causa in appreciation of his contribution towards “promoting communal harmony and social justice”.
