PATNA: The alleged kingpin of the class 12 Bihar Board topper scandal Amit Kumar alias Baccha Rai was arrested by the police today some three days after he went into hiding.
Roy, the principal of Vishun Rai College, Vaishali was arrested while he was talking to media persons outside his college.

“We have arrested Baccha Rai,” Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj told the media today adding he would be extensively interrogated.
Police said he was forced to come out of his hideout owing to heavy police pressures.
The police were looking for him after it became clear that he had allegedly manipulated results of his college.
His college had produced four of the 18 toppers in the science and arts streams this year.

However, he claimed innocence in the case.
“I am innocent and being implicated in false case. I have full faith in the judiciary,” he told the media soon after his arrest.
The entire scam came to light after a local Television news channel interviewed two toppers from his college.

Ruby Rai, the topper in arts stream who scored 444 marks out of total 500 earned embarrassment for the government when she said the political science is all about cooking.
She also did not name her subject correctly and spelt it out as “prodikal science”, instead of political science
Later, the results of two toppers were cancelled by the Bihar School Examination Board after they failed re-test conducted last week when the scandal came to light.
