PATNA: The state government in Bihar has announced to move the Supreme Court in appeal a day after the Patna High Court granted conditional bail to toppers’ scam kingpin Bachcha Rai.
“We will challenge the granting of bail to Rai in the Supreme Court. The police have got very strong evidence against him in the case during the course of investigation,” Bihar’s principal additional advocate general Lalit Kishore was quoted as saying in the local media today.

Yesterday, the HC ordered for release of Rai after framing of charges by the district trial court.
Rai who happens to be the principal of the controversy-hit Vishun Rai College, Hajipur is accused of running the toppers scandal.
Quite many students from his college topped the merit chart of class 12 examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) last year.
Rai along with BSEB chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad and many other board officials were arrested after the scam surfaced in May last year.
