PATNA: Bihar topper scandal’s mastermind Lalkeshwar Prasad has reportedly confessed to have taken Rs 20 lakh (two million) per student to make him topper in the just-held class 12 examination.
Prasad, former chairman of the Bihar school Examination Board (BSEB) who is in police custody along with his wife Usha Sinha, reportedly made this confession before his interrogators yesterday.

The arrested ex school board chief also reportedly confessed to have given affiliation to some 250 colleges after collecting Rs 400,000 from each one of them.
The affiliations were given on the basis of recommendations of a four-member committee comprising Prasad’s “yes men”.
Police now plan to interrogate the members of the committees who gave their recommendations ignoring the basic criteria.
Prasad and his wife who were on the run since the scam surfaced last fortnight were arrested from Varanasi on Tuesday while trying to shift his hideout.
