Bihar standoff continues as Lalu proves very hard nut to crack

PATNA: The prevailing standoff continued today as well with RJD chief Lalu Prasad proving to be a very hard nut to crack despite all the pressures from the JD-U.

The JD-U seeking ouster of deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav got another rude shock when RJD bluntly rejected resignation demand of the former.

“Tejashwi will not resign. Where is the question of his resigning when he has committed no wrong?” RJD said at the end of the legislature party meeting on Sunday.

Although the JD-U is trying to put up a brave face, the frequent rejection of its resignation demand by its ally has left the party jittery which got reflected in the statement of a party spokesperson.

“The RJD has shut its door although the JD-U’s windows are still open,” JD-U’s spokesperson Sanjay Singh told the media today.

Reports said disappointment in the JD-U camp has grown as the RJD has shown no interest in the patch-up bids by the Congress as well.

In the past few days, State Congress chief Ashok Chaudhary has met both chief minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad, trying hard to convince them both to save the alliance but both sides have been adamant on their respective stands.

As per reports, Prasad and Kumar have not been on speaking terms for the past around a fortnight since the CBI raided former residence in a corruption case.
