Bihar road rage case: JD-U lawmaker Manorama Devi surrenders, sent to jail

PATNA: Absconding JD-U lawmaker Manorama Devi today surrendered in a local Gaya district court after which she was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

Devi who is mother of Rocky Yadav charged with shooting dead a teenager, is accused of stashing liquor bottles at home in utter violation of excise laws.

The liquor bottles were recovered during a police raids conducted at her residence to search for her absconding son in the Aditya Sachdeva murder case.

She surrendered in the court a day after it deferred hearing on her bail pleas and sought case diary from the police.

“I have been falsely implicated under a political conspiracy. Do you believe I drink?” she asked the media in the court soon after her surrender.

She had been absconding for the past over a week since an arrest warrant was issued against her in connection with the excise law violation case.

She is also accused of shielding her accused son in the murder case and employing child labour at home.

With the surrender, her entire family is now in jail. Her husband Bindi Yadav and son Rocky have already been sent to jail in the Aditya murder case.
