Bihar merit scam: Two college principals arrested, raids on to nab absconding VR College principal

PATNA: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the Bihar Board class 12 merit scam today arrested four persons including the principals of GA High School, Vaishali and Boys High School, Rajendra Nagar, Patna Shail Kumari and Vishweshwar Yadav respectively.

GA High School was the exam centre of the institution in question Vishun Rai (VR) College, Vaishlai which gave most of the science toppers this year whereas the answer-sheets were examined at the Boys High School, Rajendra Nagar.

The police are now conducting raids to nab the absconding principal of VR College Amit Kumar alias Bachcha Rai who has gone into hiding.

Most of the toppers too have gone into hiding, police said.

Reports said the police did not find most of the class 12 toppers when they reached their homes with the notices asking them to appear before the police for interrogation.

In their absence, the police handed over the notices to either their family members or pasted on the walls of their house.

The arrests come a day after the SIT conducted raids at the BSEB office and seized all the hard discs, laptops, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets from the office.
