Bihar man sends bribe by registered post, asks officer to buy sweets for his kids

PATNA: An elected representative in Bihar has sent bribe to a government staff by registered post, requesting him to ensure speedy processing of his petition.

The bribe of Rs 500 has been sent to a staff of the Bihar State Information Commission.

The bribe is attached with a request letter addressed to one “Bada Babu” (head clerk) of the office.

“Dear Baba Babu, request you to help put the case for speedy trial since the complainant of this case is my teacher,” writes the sender identified as Sanoj Mishra, a ward councilor of Gogri panchayat in Khagaria district.

He added, “Also sending you Rs 500 note to buy sweets for your children. Please don’t take it otherwise.”

The letter was delivered to the office on July 1.

Finding the matter serious, the department concerned has registered a case against the sender of the letter.
