Bihar launching ‘book bank’ to help unprivileged children qualify competitive exams

PATNA: A local district administration in Bihar is launching a “book bank” to help the poor, unprivileged children qualify the competitive examinations in the country.

The very first-of-its-kind book bank is being set up in Vaishali district.

Unlike other libraries rich with text books, this book bank will primarily have journals, periodicals and books useful for competitive exams.

Authorities are now appealing the people to donate as much books as possible to enrich the bank.

“This bank is aimed to encourage aspirants of various competitive exams,” Vaishali district magistrate Rachna Patil told the media today adding anyone desirous of donating books could contact the office of the district magistrate.

She said the students could borrow books after furnishing proofs of their residential status and with the promise to return them within a set time frame.

The DM said borrowing of book from the bank would be totally free and be open to all.
