PATNA: Strong tremors were felt in Bihar and Jharkhand this evening, triggering panic in the region and forcing the residents to flee out of homes for safety.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale, according to US Geological Survey.

The quake struck 143 km (88 miles) west of the city of Meiktila, the agency said.
Once the people felt the tremors, the panicky residents fled homes and took shelter at an open place.
Bihar disaster management department has asked the district authorities to fan out and assess the damage. The NDRF has also been alerted.
