Bihar hospital constructing helipad on its roof to help patients


PATNA: A hospital in Patna is building helipad on its roof to help the critically-ill patient reach hospital soon.

Authorities said the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) located along the Bailey Road in Patna is constructing the helipad for the patients to be admitted to the soon-to-start State Cancer Centre.

“The construction of helipad will not only help the seriously-ill patients rush to the hospital through air ambulance but also enable the doctors see the patients,” authorities said.

The foundation stone of the Cancer Centre to be constructed at the cost of Rs 120 crore will be laid this month by Union health minister JP Nadda.

The five-storeyed Cancer Centre is likely to be operational from next year.

As per the report, the Cancer Centre will have all the latest medical facilities, such as PET CT scan, Linear Accelerator (LINAC), Brachy Therapy and Cobalt machine.

At the same time, the IGIMS has made it mandatory for patients to furnish Aadhar card to get them admitted for treatment.
