Bihar govt’s fervent appeal to students-‘Please stop cheating and restore old glory of the state’

PATNA: Trying hard to restore its lost glory, a local district administration in Bihar has made fervent appeals to the Intermediate and matriculation examines not to use unfair means in the examinations. The examination for Bihar Board 10 class is scheduled to start from March 11 this year whereas the Intermediate examination has already begun from February 24.

The Vaishali district administration today inserted advertisements in a loca vernacular daily asking the students, their guardians and intellectuals not to promote cheating in the exam halls.

Last year a visual of the guardians and relatives climbing up to the walls of a multi-storied exam centre in Vaishali had gone viral in the media, earning much embarrassment to the state government. And, the fresh initiative is said to be the part of the government’s effort to prevent repeat of such incidents this time and restore the lost glory of the Vaihslai which is credited with being the world’s first republic to have a duly elected assembly of representatives and efficient administration.

“As you are aware, Vaishali district is the mother of truth, non-violence and republic, ‘karm-bhoomi’ of Buddha and birth-place of Mahavira. Last year, mass cheating in the (matriculation) examinations had tarnished the image of the district. Now, we appeal to the students and guardians to set a high standard in the society by helping the local administration conduct a fair examination,” says an advertisement published by the local administration today.

Urging the students and guardian alike to curb mass copying, it said, “There is nothing like short-cut routes to get success in life. A cheat-free examination not only brightens the prospects of students but also help build a good character. Those who pass through such tests play a significant role in the proper development of a nation in future.”

It also appealed to the guardians to help contain cheating in exam and restore the old glory of the district. “We all must take an oath neither to take to cheating nor to help promote it,” the administration appealed, while also warning of suitable legal actions against people if found violating laws.
