“The home department issued a notification recommending a CBI probe into murder,” a senior government official told thebiharpost.com.
Earlier in the day, chief minister Nitish Kumar had said he was contemplating about handing over the case to the CBI.
“I discussed the issue (regarding handing over the case to the CBI) with the Bihar DGP last night and will take a decision very soon,” chief minister told the media in Patna today.
He said none would be spared in the case as the police have been given free hand to investigate the case.
He said he was shocked at the killing of journalist. “A journalist’s job is to write and an attack on him is just like an attack on me,” said Kumar.
The victim’s family had sought a CBI probe into the murder saying they had no faith in police of the present government.
