Sonepur-Digha bridge was cleared during Lalu Prasad’s stint as Union railway minister in the UPA government in 2006 whereas foundation stone of four-lane Ara-Chapra bridge had been laid down by chief minister Kumar in 2010, as per reports.

“We must not forget the contributions of Laluji. The Sonepur-Digha bridge was initially meant for rail project only but it was after Laluji’s effort that road part was also incorporated into the project to smoothen road connectivity,” the chief minister recalled.

He added during his tenure only the rail project had been sanctioned.

The event also saw both the bickering ruling alliance partners coming together and heaping praises on each other, indicating a thaw in their relations.
