Another journalist attacked in Bihar’s Siwan district, condition critical


PATNA: A senior journalist working for a Hindi daily was attacked by criminals in Bihar last night, sparking panic among the scribes.

The incident took place at Rajendra Chowk under Maharajganj police station in Siwan district on Sunday night. Siwan is the home district of jailed RJD politician Mohammad Shahabuddin.

Rajesh Kumar who works for a Hindi daily was returning home after visiting a local fair when the criminals intercepted him and stabbed, leaving him badly wounded.

He was rushed to a local hospital which later referred him to Patna Medical College and Hospital for better treatment after finding his condition critical, according to media reports.

As per reports, the criminals were angry over one of his news reports about molestation recently.

This is the fourth incident of attacks on journalists in Bihar in past over a year.

Since May last, the criminals have killed three journalists— Braj Kishore Rajesh in Samastipur, Dharmendra Singh in Rohtas and Rajdeo Ranjan in Siwan district.


A series of such incidents have caused panic among journalists.
