PATNA: The BJP today registered a case against Bihar excise minister Abdul Jalil Mastan for his alleged indecent remarks against the Prime Minister and reportedly instigating the crowd to beat his photograph with shoes at a public function.

The FIR was lodged with the Kotwali police station in Patna by a BJP legislator Nitin Navin.
Mastan has come in the firing line of all after the video clip of his inflammatory speech went viral in the media.
In the video, the minister is heard using uncharitable words against the PM and then asking the crowd gathered at his party rally to hit his photograph with shoes. Subsequently, the crowd is seen hitting the photograph of the PM placed on a chair on the dais with shoes.
The incident took place on February 22 during a Congress rally held in Purnia district to protest centre’s demonestisation drive.
Almost all parties cutting across party lines, such the RJD and the JD-U which incidentally are coalition partners in the same government have condemned the action of the minister but the Congress has come out in his support.
The BJP has disrupted the proceedings of the House seeking dismissal of the minister and declared not to let the House function until its demand is met.
However, the Congress has rejected the resignation demand. “He (the minister) has already tendered apology for his conduct. There is no question of his dismissal,” declared Congress leader Sadanand Singh.
