Anti-India slogans on Patna streets: Popular Front leader arrested

PATNA: Police today arrested a senior leader of the “Popular Front of India” a day after pro-Pakistan slogans rocked the streets during a procession in Patna.

The arrested leader Mohammad Taushif is said to be the Mithilanchal zone secretary of the outfit which took out a procession in Patna in support of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.

His arrest was made by a special police team formed to apprehend accused persons.

The procession had originated from Patna Science College. Reports said as the procession reached Kargil Chowk, some processionists allegedly shouted slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad”.

In the meantime, some people who happened to pass the areas made a video of the slogan-shouting youths and uploaded on the social media. The video soon went viral, prompting the authorities to act.
