PATNA: Another Hindi-language journalist was attacked in Bihar for not writing “favourable story” in his paper.
Reports said journalist Hemant Thakur who works for Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar was kidnapped from his home in Araria on Sunday, beaten up and locked in a hospital room by a local contractor identified as Laddan Haji.
According to the victim, the accused also gave a knife to a patient asking him to kill if he tried to escape.
Eventually, he was rescued by the hospital staffs by breaking open the lock after he screamed for help.
This is the third incident of attacks on journalists in Bihar.
A couple of days back, journalist Rajesh Singh working for another Hindi language daily Dainik Jagran was threatened with dire consequences by alleged henchmen of a JD-U lawmaker Hira Bind in Nalanda district for writing news against him.
Earlier, this month, another Hindi language journalist Rajdeo Ranjan was shot dead by unidentified killers in Siwan district.
About a fortnight after the killing, the police still grope in the dark as they have failed identified the killers.
