Al-Qaeda terrorist arrested from Jharkhand was motivating youths for ‘jehad’: Police


RANCHI: In a major breakthrough, anti-terrorist squad of the Jharkhand police has arrested a dreaded terrorist Mohammad Kalimuddin Mujahiri who had been dodging the security agencies for the past three years.

He was arrested from the Tatanagar railway station in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur locality on Saturday during a raid conducted by the anti-terrorist squad. He was associated with dreaded Al Qaeda.

Soon after his arrest, he was taken to a secret location for quizzing. It’s, however, not known what he has revealed before his interrogators.

Police said the arrested terrorist was motivating youths for jehad in the Indian sub-continent and used to send new recruits to Pakistan for training.

“He was wanted for his involvement in several terrorist activities and had been running his organisation from a madarsa,” a senior local police official ML Meena told the media on Sunday.

Police said he had been changing his locations and also his appearance quite frequently to escape arrest.

According to police, several of his accomplices are currently lodged in local Jamshedpur jail and Delhi’s Tihar jail.
