After Gujarat, now Bihar: Dalit youths thrashed badly, ‘urinated upon’ by influential people on bike theft charge


PATNA: Two Dalit youths were thrashed and allegedly urinated upon by some influential people in Bihar on the charge of stealing a bike, according to an FIR lodged with the police.

The horrible incident took place at Babutola village under Paru police station in Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday night.

According to the complaint, the youths had gone to see a village fair when the accused persons caught them on the charge of stealing a bike and then badly trashed them before also urinating upon them.

“The accused persons caught them for stealing a bike from the fair and beat them baldy. Later the accused persons also urinated upon them after being instigated by the husband of a local Mukhia (village council chief),” alleged Sunita Devi, mother of a victim, in an FIR registered with the local police.

Police have registered the case and are investigating into the matter.

“We are investigating into the matter but the charges have not been established so far,” the senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarpur district told the media today.

The incident comes close on the heels on ongoing protests in Gujarat following brutal flogging of four Dalit youths last week by cow vigilante group members over allegations of killing of cow.

The ongoing protests have now spread to many areas of Gujarat.
