Abducted Nepalese businessman rescued from India, one abductor nabbed

PATNA: Prominent Nepal businessman Suresh Kedia who was abducted by a highly professional gang of criminals four days back, was safely rescued from East Champaran district in Bihar today.

The abductors were reported to have sought Rs One billion in exchange for releasing Kedia, brother of Nepal Sadbahwana Party parliamentarian Vimal Kedia.

Babloo Dube gang was believed to have been involved in his kidnapping.

A joint team of police rescued the businessman from a hideout at Kotava village in East Champaran district bordering Nepal.

The police also recovered the vehicle used in the kidnapping.

“Based on certain inputs received from one arrested criminal, we raided a place and recovered the businessman today. He is safe,” East Champaran district superintendent of police Jitendra Rana told the media today.

Kedia, a member of Kedia organisatiion, was abducted from Birganj on Thursday evening while he was returning home on his car after offering prayers at a local temple.

The criminals got him out of his car and dragged him into their Scorpio before fleeing into Bihar through the porous Indo-Nepal border.

The police were constantly conducting raids to recover Kedia and finally managed to recover him safe.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), the largest umbrella body Nepali private sector, had condemned the kidnapping, saying such incidents incite fear among the business fraternity.
