Aamir Khan donates Rs25L for flood victims, Bihar’s very own ‘heroes’ disappoint


PATNA: In a noble gesture, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has donated Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) to the Chief Minister Relief Fund to help the Bihar flood victims.

A state government official today confirmed the chief minister received the cheque sent by post.

The donation has been sent on behalf of the Aamir Khan Productions Private Limited, a non-government company which the actor heads.

Aamir has been closely associated with Bihar and visiting the state at intervals.

Recently, he visited the native village of mountain man Dashrath Manjhi in Gaya, who cut a rocky mountain for 22 years to build a road using only chisel and hammer, in connection with his TV show “Satyamev Jayate”.

Aamir is the first non-Bihari actor who has donated money for Bihar flood victims.

Incidentally, many prominent Bollywoods artists from Bihar, such as Shatrughan Sinha, Prakash Jha, Manoj Vajpayee, Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari are yet to come forward to extend any help on this front.

Rather than helping, Manoj Vajpayee instead appealed to chief minister Nitish Kumar for help when his native village in West Chamaparan got flooded recently.

Floods have brought massive devastation to Bihar this year. According a report of the Disaster Management Department, floods have affected over 1.71 crore people settled across 19 districts of Bihar. It has also claimed more than 500 lives till date.
