Aaj Tak journalist faces strong protests for his derogatory tweet about Rabri Devi

Rabri Devi is wife of RJD president Lalu Prasad

PATNA: A derogatory tweet about former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi by a Hindi TV journalist has invited strong reactions from the masses and the politicians alike.

Rabri Devi, wife of jailed politician Lalu Prasad, served as the chief minister of Bihar for eight years in between July 1997 to March 2005. She is still very much active in politics and has been taking potshots at her political rivals through her Twitter handle.

But a TV journalist who works for a prominent Hindi TV news channel doesn’t appear happy with her Twitter attacks on politicians and has questioned her academic skills, inviting strong protests from various quarters.

“So, Rabri Deviji also tweets. Can anyone tell her to just spell out the word Twitter thrice,” tweeted Nishant Chaturvedi, a journalist with Aaj Tak.

However, this tweet has drawn bitter criticisms from the people with the Grand Alliance leader spitting fire over it.

“People like you tremble while coming before Rajmata…enough buttering,” tweeted RJD MP Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal.

Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president Upendra Kushwaha too expressed annoyance over it.

“Rabri Devi is the first women chief minister of Bihar and the tweet against her highlights the mentality of the BJP-sponsored media towards the women folk. Elimination of people nursing such feeling is a must in democracy,” tweeted Kushwaha.

A similar outrage had taken place when a ABP journalist Anurag Muskan termed RJD chief Lalu Prasad as “Lalua” in his live TV debate show in Bihar’s Munger district last month.

” Ye dekhiye saf taur par kah rahen hain ki pahle Bihar mein sirf lalual ki lalten jalti thi, aab bulb bhi jalata hai (It is said earlier only Lalu’s lantern would light up but now it has been replaced by bulbs,” was how Muskan had said.
